Notable

Notable is a Markdown-based note-taking application designed for users who want a powerful, flexible alternative to traditional note-taking tools. Notable combines a feature-rich editor with complete data portability. Built on the same Markdown engine as VS Code, it offers advanced editing capabilities including multi-cursor support, syntax highlighting, minimap navigation, and live preview with split-view editing. Users can write in Markdown while incorporating KaTeX expressions and Mermaid diagrams. The app prioritizes data ownership—notes and attachments are stored locally on your disk rather than in proprietary databases, eliminating vendor lock-in. This enables seamless integration with external tools like Git, Dropbox, and third-party editors, plus the ability to perform regex-based operations on your entire note library. Additional capabilities include: Dark theme and Zen mode for distraction-free writing Nestable tags and full-text fuzzy search Multi-note batch operations Built-in task management with todos Note linking and sharing Import/export support (Evernote, Boostnote, HTML, PDF) Attachment management with copy-paste support The interface is keyboard-friendly with a quick-open window and upcoming command palette. Notable's roadmap includes built-in synchronization, integrated version control, official mobile apps, and a plugin system for extensibility. Currently available on desktop only, with a web app in development.
